The majesty of orchestral music and video game soundtracks are not mutually exclusive. In fact, the 2010s have brought Symphonic Legends—Music from Nintendo with specials like:
“Donkey Kong Country (Aquatic Ambiance)"
“Pikmin (Variation on a World Map Theme),”
“Super Mario Galaxy (Galactic Suite)”
And let’s not forget The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses, the acclaimed world concert tour, which Wired called “an utterly flawless presentation.”
Kingdom Hearts is now no exception. The concert tour, put on by Disney Concerts and La Fée Sauvage, a production company specializing in video game scores, announced the tour in April 2016. Tickets went on sale April 30, according to the company’s Facebook page.
The concerts will begin in Tokyo on the game’s fifteenth anniversary in March 2017.
Professional orchestras in the different locations, such as the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra in Japan and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London, will perform selections of music from the unparalleled soundtrack of the video game saga.
The concert will also feature amazing HD video, no doubt akin to the selections in The Legend of Zelda’s concert tour, and will be supervised by director and video game designer Tetsuya Nomura.
While a specific date has not been set for the release of the highly anticipated final part of the trilogy, it’s the little things like this that make the waiting almost bearable.
